Carry This Verse is a small, hand-edited collection. Every page here was assembled by a person deciding what belongs on it — not generated in bulk from a keyword list. This page explains how that is done, because you should not have to take a stranger's word about scripture on faith alone.
Who edits these pages
Every topic page is chosen, annotated and reviewed by the Carry This Verse Editors, the team behind Carry This Verse, following the method described on this page. If you find a mistake, the corrections section below says how to reach us.
The translation
All verses are quoted from the Berean Standard Bible (BSB), which its publisher has dedicated to the public domain. That is why you can copy, print, and share anything here without asking us. Where a verse reads very differently in another common translation, the card says so under “Context”.
One home page per verse
A verse about healing may also belong on a page about fear. Rather than repeat the same note in both places, each verse has exactly one home page where it gets the full treatment: what the passage is doing, the situation it was written into, and why it lands where it does. Everywhere else it appears, it gets a short note and a link home. This is a deliberate limit on how far the same twenty verses can be stretched across a site.
What a note is trying to do
Two things, in this order: say what the verse actually claims, and say why you might need it today. Not a devotional, not an exegesis paper. If the honest answer is that Christians have read a verse two different ways for centuries, the note says that rather than picking the more comforting reading and presenting it as settled.
What you will not find here
- No promise that every illness ends the way you want it to. Paul asked three times and was told no.
- No suggestion that an outcome depends on the strength of your belief. That idea has done real damage in hospital rooms.
- No verse clipped out of a sentence that meant something else.
- No medical, legal, or financial advice. This is a collection of scripture.
Corrections
If a quotation is wrong by even one word, or a note misrepresents a passage, tell us and it gets fixed. Quoting scripture inaccurately is the one mistake this site cannot afford. Send a correction →
How it pays for itself
Reading and copying scripture are free. We support this site through personalized memorial pages and wedding blessings pages, each with printable cards and a QR code.
